Periyar Tiger Reserve:Within the Southern Western Ghat (mountain ranges) of peninsular India, Periyar Tiger Reserve is the oldest & largest protected areas of Kerala (777 sq. km.). Predominantly, an evergreen biotype with great scenic beauty and rich assemblage of flora and fauna, Periyar epitomizes the opulent ecological and cultural diversity typical of tropical rain forests. Sabarimala the famous forest shrine of Lord Ayyappa, visited by 5 million people annually, is situated on the western flank of reserve. Activities Boating: This is the boating through the lakes of Periyar Tiger Reserve. The forests are rich in bird life and arboreal animals like giant squirrel and Nilgiri Langour. Animals like elephant, gaur and sambar are sighted keeping close to the edges of lake. Elephant Ride: An adventure filled 2 hour or half day with the gentle giant of the jungle the Elephant.. one can feel, ride, play bathe, have a show of strength with tug of war & observe them in their natural habitat.. Bullock Cart Discoveries: We invite you to visit the farm lands for a village hidden in the valley behind the mountains of Periyar tiger reserve on a bullock cart. The village is rich bird diversity, with vineyards, divers agricultural crops of mangoes, tamarind, onions, sunflower, jasmine and a score of other vegetables the village will take your breath away when the guides start to interpret how farming has woven delicately with the culture and the life of the naives. Spice Plantation tour & Tea factory visit: An enriching journey to see and feel the King, Queen & the Prince of Spices through a guided spice plantation tour. Assistance to shop at spice market available along with the tour. Kailasam: Kailasam is an exceptionally beautiful property full of tea & Cardamom plantations. A boat ride in the lake here will throw up rare moments filled with fun and frolic. Nestled just 22km. away, Kailasam offers long strolls through plantations and a visit to our tea processing factory besides opportunities for mountain safaris, bird watching and trekking. Calvary Mount : The locale offers a panoramic and unforgettable view of Idukki reservoir. If you are lucky you can see elephants in the forests, way down the mountain. Some have even seen elephants swimming between the islets in the reservoir. The forest department is conducts trekking through the wilderness of the forest.
