Trash Trail - Day Tour

Introduction: This is no ordinary tour; it is the Trash Trail - a tour that trails all the things one throws away! On this journey through the story of waste, we will meet people who silently clean up and transform all the stuff we throw away. We will visit places you haven't imagined existed. For the first time, you will understand your waste and its relationship to the waste of the whole city. And you will come back changed forever! This is not going to be a long lecture on how you need to segregate and recycle waste. Rather, this is an experience of hands-on seeing, discussing, debating, observing, questioning, understanding and learning. Why should you go? What will I see? The people and places at every level of waste collection, processing, land filling, and recycling- both formal and informal sectors. We will tour every place from local scrap shops to landfills to where all stages of recycling happen in Bangalore - and more. What’s this tour about? This is a tour about us - me and you, our behavior, what we buy, use and throw everyday, the people who work with our waste, what really happens to the waste once its away from our sight and HOW what we don’t know about all of this is harming us.The tour is also about going back home more enriched and capable of making more informed choices. When is it? Available on all days. We’ve planned the tour to start at 7.00 am and finish by 3 pm. However please keep in mind that there might be a slight variation depending on the size of the group, our pace, the traffic situation (that Bangalore is infamous for) and other such variables. But we do insist that you are there on time, so that we beat the heat and traffic. Duration : 8 hours Where is it? Indira Nagar, Bangalore, Karnataka Who is it for?
